NewDay 2025
This summer our youth joined thousands of others at Newday – a week of worship, teaching, and life-changing encounters with God. Sophie Gammon, our Youth Ministry Worker shares some of the highlights, from powerful times of worship to moments of healing, prayer, and community. Read on to hear how God moved among our young people and what they brought home from this unforgettable week.
Just over two weeks ago, around 10,000 people gathered at Norfolk Showground for a week of camping, worship and hearing the wonderful news of God. It was a time that touched many hearts and transformed lives.
As Redeemer, we camped alongside Hope Church Ipswich and two small churches from Sweden. It was beautiful to watch friendships form and grow stronger throughout the week.
Each evening, we headed to the big top for some incredible worship and teaching. The Bible teaching was based on the book of Daniel, exploring how we can stand firm in our faith despite what the world tells us. Even though Newday is designed for the youth, the preaches spoke to everyone!
The worship reminded us that God is worthy of all praise because He is greater than we can imagine. Everything we do should glorify and honour Him.
Over the course of the week, 760 young people made a commitment to follow Jesus, including some from our own youth. On Wednesday we spent some time praying for encounters with the Holy Spirit. It was really encouraging to see the youth praying for each other and being open to receiving what God had for them.
On Thursday night, we saw 400 people being healed. Watching the youth gather around each other and believing God to move was really encouraging. It also opened up honest conversations about how and why God heals and why sometimes He doesn’t.
A small group from our youth took part in Youth Alpha during the week, giving them space to explore deeper questions about who Jesus is and what He has done for them. These moments of discussion were just as important and powerful as the big top gatherings.
This was more than just a week away, it was a time of encounter, growth and fun! We came home encouraged, challenged and reminded that there is no one more worthy of our praise than God.
Here’s what our youth had to say about the week:
“We learnt that there are 3 different types of healing; miraculous, through medicine and in heaven. This helps me to know that even if God doesn’t heal you straight away, he will heal you in heaven and you will be the greatest and fullest version of you”. - Tim
“I really enjoyed Wednesday night (holy spirit night) when we were all praying for each other. I feel we became closer as a group because of it.” - Amelia
“You need pressure to be better as a Christian” - Chimbuchi
“I learnt about how Daniel wouldn’t go against God and worship false idols. If you don’t bow to society then eventually society will turn and bow to God. I enjoyed being part of a large community that understands me and my faith.” - Jo
Newday 2025 was so much more than an event—it was a reminder that God is at work in and through the next generation. We’re thankful for all He did during the week and excited to see the seeds planted continue to grow in our young people’s lives. As a church family, let’s keep cheering them on, praying for them, and trusting God for even greater things ahead.
